About María Jiménez Sequeiros
She was born and studied in Seville, where she graduated in the specialty of painting in the faculty of Fine Arts in 1989.
She directed the Marta Moore Art Gallery between 1990 and 1993 in Seville, leading an important role in the artistic environment of the city in those years coinciding with the universal exhibition held in the city in 1992, a period of cultural significance in the city.
Shortly after she moved to Barcelona, where she decided to expand her studies in the field of design, enrolling herself in interior design at the Massana School. Simultaneously, she was working as a designer of accessories, shoes, hats and handbags for an important and named fashion firm of that moment, Josep Font until the year 2000.
Her incursion into the fashion industry arrives with the design and craftsmanship of hemp espadrilles for the collection of the designer Daniel Carrasco in Cibeles fashion catwalk in the summer of 1994.
After completing her studies of interior design, she began working as an interior designer in the architecture studio of Arnaldo Bassadona giving a new direction to her professional life. She almost left the fashion world in order to commit herself to the interior architecture.
In the year 2000, she began teaching at the Massana School after obtaining an award given by the school itself. From then on she would combine her work as an interior designer and teaching going through different studies and coordination within the school and organizing exhibitions in and out the school as a culture coordinator.
She taught in the Master of Interior Design of the UPC Foundation in San Cugat del Valles and in the course of Creative Museumography at the "El Monte" foundation in Seville. In 2010, she started with doctorate courses in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona, with Cum Laude in 2016.
In 2011, the Autonomous University of Barcelona recognized as a university degree the GRAU that is taught at the Massana School and she became part of the faculty cloister where she continues her teaching to this day.
Throughout her life she has not stopped painting and creating, always keeping in parallel a workshop where she develops her most personal work. An intimate and personal work, apart from social rules, professional parameters or economic interests that can affect the results.
